Advocacy threat this is threat to fundamental principles of IFAC code of ethicswhich Occurs when a member of the assurance team promotes, or seems to
promote, an assurance client’s position or opinion.

Example of situations which can lead to advocacy threat may include,

  • Auditor underwriting client shares
  • Auditors giving evidence on behalf of client in the court
